The interruption was a result of a vehicular accident on Tun Doi Road involving a CUC power pole.
The problem was isolated and the first and second partials were reenergized at 1:25 a.m.
The line crew performed the necessary repairs and the circuit was completed at 2:25 a.m.
In addition, at 4:30 a.m., the Chalan Kiya Substation tripped due to lightning, activating the relays and automatically taking all the Kiya Circuits offline.
Because of the electrical fault, the Aggreko power plant relays were also activated, tripping the engines at the facility.
The immediate loss of generation required the Power Plant 1 operators to manually trip the Feeder 4 Circuit to prevent further complications to the system.
A complete inspection of the system was conducted, the restoration process was initiated and the final feeder was restored at 6:42 a.m.
CUC apologizes for any inconvenience the power interruption might have imposed on the community and will continue to work diligently to minimize future interruptions.
