Manamko’ complete basic computer training

She made this assurance after expressing appreciation for the progress of the computer class conducted by volunteer instructor Sinchy Kapwich of the Public School System.

Yesterday, four senior citizens were given recognition for completing the basic computer and advance computer training: Felipe Santiago, Teodor Guiao, Yi Yong Cha and Felisa Baza.

Seven had previously completed the training — Mila Garin, Elena Villanueva, Rosario Ibanez, Mary Alen Contrad, Romino Achene, Jesus Kisa and Pacita Angeles.

During yesterday’s graduation ceremony, Mondala lauded Kapwich and Aging Office program coordinator Walter Manglona for teaching computer skills to senior citizens.

Manglona conducted a class on tutorial and advanced computer skills.

Mondala encouraged other senior citizens to attend the computer class so they can access the Internet and learn about networking.

“You’re never too old to learn,” she told senior citizens.

Manglona, for his part, said: “I want the manamko’ to be computer literate. Some of them are already on MySpace and are networking.”

He told the manamko’ about the advantages of using the Internet and networking with people around the globe.

“You can also do research on the Internet,” he said.

Manglona’s students have started sending e-mail to him.

They are also interested in online “chatting,” he added.

Kapwich said the computer class is part of the “mental exercises” for the manamko’.

He said he was impressed with the students’ interest.

Those who took the class completed nine months of training, he added.

Also yesterday, the manamko’ recognized the birthday celebrants of June: Soledad Cabrera, Juanita Espiritu, Carlito Hernandez, Jesus Pangelinan and Beneta Cepeda.
