If any name changing is to be made concerning Northern Marianas College it must be addressed by the STUDENTS, FACULTY, BOARD and the community and not through POLITICAL LEGISLATION. Every effort must be made to ensure that NMC is funded by our government and extra effort must be ensured that NMC is not turned into a POLITICAL CAMPUS.
If this cannot be understood by any member of our legislative branch, then NMC should remain NMC.
On another note: It was the governor’s duty to establish a local college in the CNMI as stipulated in our Constitution and in no way form or shape should the credit be given to a governor that was obligated by duty to establish one.
In all fairness it should apply to a person or persons that made NMC what it is today since it was established in 1981. Too many times people who actually carried out the mandates and promulgations of rules and policies are ignored and disrespected and this has to stop. Records will surface reflecting who truly is deserving of such an honorable name change to the only local college in the CNMI.
Again, if this cannot be established correctly then NMC should remain NMC.
