11 hospitalized, 181 new Covid-19 cases

(Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.) — As of Feb. 16, 2022, there were 11 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19: three unvaccinated, eight vaccinated. One of 11 was on a ventilator.

Moreover, 181 additional individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 7,927 cases since March 26, 2020, CHCC reported on Wednesday evening. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

Of the 181 cases identified in the community on Feb. 15, 2022:

Individuals who test positive for Covid-19 should stay home and isolate when they are sick (except to get medical care), even if they do not have symptoms. They should rest and stay hydrated. They can take over-the-counter medicines, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, to relieve symptoms, and live Covid-19 safe.

Individuals experiencing Covid-19 symptoms should stay home and live Covid-19 safe (except to get medical care or get tested for Covid-19). A total of 43 Covid-19 vaccine shots were administered on Feb. 16, 2022; of the eligible population, 55% have received an additional dose. The vaccination rate is calculated using the 2020 Census population estimates for the CNMI and includes the eligible 5-year-olds and older population.

The vaccination statuses of the 181 new cases identified are pending verification.

A total of 569 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Feb. 15, 2022:

258 via Community-Based Testing;

260 at Koblerville Covid-19 Community Center;

46 at Tinian Health Center; and

5 at the Rota Health Center.

Of the total cases identified, as of Feb. 15, 2022, there were 6,091 recoveries  and 1,811 active cases.

7,310 of the cases were identified via community testing and 617 through travel testing.

Since March 2020, there have been 25 Covid-19-related deaths in the CNMI.
