On Thursday, NMC’s free information session at the Student Center on campus was jam-packed with students seeking counseling, financial aid and information regarding the college’s admission program, Castro said.
NMC will waive the application and placement test fees — a savings of about $75 — of the over one hundred students who attended the event, he added.
The free information session is part of NMC’s continuing program to entice more students to enroll at the college and avail of the benefits offered by the federal and CNMI governments.
In March, NMC held its first Start Smart Senior Seminar which was also supported by the College Access Challenge Grant Project, the Public School System and the TRiO programs: Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, and Student Support Services.
The seminar was launched to increase the number of high school graduates entering college this year.
Last June, NMC conducted the Cash for College Workshop to assist students in completing forms for scholarship and other financial aid programs.
Castro said the free information session on Thursday was for everyone who wanted to pursue their education and learn more about the programs of NMC.
High school graduates, high school students and their parents, government and private sector employees, international students, attended the session, he said.
