Docomo tastes 1st defeat; IT&E in 3-game winning streak

The Brokers were down by two points in the first quarter as Docomo’s Kelvin Fitial controlled the offense firing six points.

Fitial did not see action in the second quarter but with James Villacrusis picking up where he left off, Docomo managed to raise the lead to five points in the end of the first half.

Docomo went short-handed in the middle of the game, and Fitial’s absence since the second quarter left a big spot wide open into Docomo’s defense and the MBI saw it.

De Vero and Junar Guiab used the back door and Art Trajano helped execute an inside play to cut the lead again down to two in the end of the third quarter.

Trajano sizzled with 18 points as he led MBI pull away from Docomo in the final quarter and handed Docomo its first loss with a 68-59 victory.

Fitial returned to the court in the fourth quarter but failed to help Docomo bounce back.

IT &E 81, Tinian 79

IT& E tied the ball game in the end of the third quarter, and a decisive outside shot with six and a half seconds left to the final buzzer handed IT & E its third win over Tinian.

Team Tinian did not give IT & E the chance to over take the lead during the first quarter.

Rengul Reyes helped bring Tinian farther ahead in the second quarter and they enjoyed a seven-point at the end of the second half.

Tinian brought the ball down many times for breakaways but twist of fate took place after two calls of offensive fouls. Two whistle blows for errors during their offense slowed Tinian cagers down in the third quarter.

Looking somehow, demoralized by a few of referee’s calls, team Tinian’s offense was derailed despite a series of fast breaks. This gave IT & E the chance to take the lead.

But Tinian’s Reyes and Tony Borja rallied in the final few minutes and took the upper ground again.

The IT&E however, prevailed in the end after a crucial shot in the last six seconds of the game.
