USS Emory S. Land sailors on Tuesday donated 10 boxes of books to Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.
The book donation is part of USS Emory S. Land’s community outreach that began Monday, Presidents’ Day.
JKPL Director Erlinda Naputi, on behalf of the state library, humbly thanked the sailors of USS Emory S. Land for the book donation.
She also thanked the Office of the Governor and Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs Special Assistant Glenna Palacios.
“Thank you for your service, thank you for your volunteerism, thank you for reaching out to the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library to share your love of literacy for our CNMI community,” Naputi told the sailors. “We salute you and thank you for your gracious support, donation, and time!”
A submarine tender and the lead ship of her class, USS Emory S. Land is was named for Adm. Emory S. Land (1879-1971).
