Prime wins women’s title in thrilling comeback over Hericanes

PRIME claimed the women’s division championship of the 2025 Allied Pacific Environmental Consulting Basketball League on Thursday night, following a strong second-half performance that powered them past the Hericanes, 44–34, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The first half showcased a fierce battle between the league’s two top teams, with multiple lead changes keeping the crowd on edge.

The Hericanes’ offense leaned heavily on Rachel Langu, who made her presence felt in the paint, drawing multiple fouls and leading the charge with nine points. Marlene Lumabi provided support with a three-pointer to add some range.

But Prime always had an answer.

Their primary scoring came from beyond the arc, with Aiyana Fatiola igniting the momentum with the first trey. Jahsmin Ramon followed with two more, and Yasmeen Younis added a fourth from deep to give Prime a slight 19–16 lead.

In the second half, Prime kicked it up a notch as the rest of the squad joined the scoring effort.

Azriel Fatialofa kept the pressure on with two strong finishes inside, while Rosie Saralu and Venice Enriquez added firepower to stretch the lead.

Langu continued to battle for the Hericanes, scoring five straight points at one stretch, with Sha Aina Mendoza and Kaia Travilla each hitting a three-pointer in an attempted rally.

But the Hericanes could only cut the deficit to 10 before time expired, falling to Prime, 44–34.
