Man violates protection order

Jesus R. Jones, who was represented by Assistant Public Defender Michael Curtis, was ordered by Superior Court Presiding Judge David Wiseman to post a $25,000 cash bail.

Chief Prosecutor Kevin Lynch represented the government.

Assistant Attorney General George L. Hasselback said Jones, despite a court order barring him, went to the home of Mercedes S. Lessoy in Garapan on Aug. 16, Aug. 19. and Sept. 3.

Investigation by the Department of Public Safety’s Domestic Violence Section investigator Andrea C. Ozawa revealed that once inside Lessoy’s home, Jones uttered “profanity words infront of the kids.”

Hasselback said over the last 10 years, Jones “recklessly placed” Lessoy “in fear of death or physical injury” of her or any family member.

This “despite repeated convictions for crimes of domestic violence and repeated orders of protection ordering [Jones] to refrain from such actions, defendant has continued to physically assault, harass and annoy Ms. Lessoy to the point that she fears for her own physical safety and the physical safety of her children,” Hasselback stated.

Wiseman set the status conference for Oct. 28.
