Karidat provides food, clothing to typhoon victims

The clothing and canned goods are for the Alamagan and Agrigan residents affected by the recent typhoon, Karidat Executive Director Angie V. Leon Guerrero said.

These residents have evacuated the Northern Islands and arrived here on Thursday. They are currently sheltered at the Ada Gym.

According to DCCA, six more residents of the Northern Islands need assistance.

The bags donated by Karidat included clothes for children, adults as well as toddlers and infants.

Leon Guerrero said the canned goods will provide at least three months worth of food.

DCCA and Karidat are asking members of the community to donate rice for the typhoon victims.

“Any amount of rice will be accepted,” Leon Guerrero said.

DCCA said the 150 pounds of rice donated by the Red Cross are not enough although the typhoon victims will also receive food stamps.

Leon Guerrero said they are grateful to the community members who donated the clothing and food items.

Karidat is still accepting donations of food, rice and clothing.
