So far, he added, that the council has been receiving more applications compared to last year.
However, the council wants to see more teachers registering for the program which will start on Saturday.
“We encourage qualified teachers to call our office and inquire about the program,” Russell said.
Participants who attend the program may be eligible to receive continuing education credits at Northern Marianas College.
The participants will also meet the history requirement for teaching credentials upon completion of the program.
A $75 fee is needed for registration.
Topics that will be tackled by the institute include Ancient Chamorro History, Spanish Period, Carolinian History and Culture, German and Japanese Period, World War II and Naval Trust/Territory Period, CNMI Constitution, Covenant negotiations and current events.
