Pre- schoolers taught not to fear police, nurses

Members of the Fire Division visited the Ngerbeched Head Start on Wednesday on the request of teachers.

The demonstration on how the emergency ambulance is operated was also aimed at teaching students at an early age on safety and emergency.Hilaria N. Ichiro, Head Start teacher said that students are usually fearful of police officers and nurses, she said inviting them over to the school is one way of teaching kids to trust the Bureau of Public Safety.Ichiro said the kids were happy about the demonstration and during that time they were allowed to go inside the ambulance vehicle, touch the equipment, talk to the police officers and nurse.“Police are their bestfriends, bestfriends help them, “ Ichiro said .Ichiro said that one nurse who joined the demonstration to kids also showed the preschoolers that going to the hospital is something that should not be feared.Fire Division Chief Benhart Baulechong said that the division will be making rounds of schools for demonstration.He said part of the demonstration is to teach kids on how to heed visual warnings by ambulance vehicles. This are warnings to attract the attention of road users as the ambulance approaches.These warning means that road users should move out away from the vehicle.
