Twelve teachers have already registered so far and the council hopes to get 40 participants from the Saipan and 10 each from Tinian and Rota.
The deadline for the registration is on Sept. 11 but the council might extend the date.
The council is expecting more applicants with the start of the new school year and as more teachers are informed about the program.
The Teachers Institute is open to all K-12 classroom teachers in public and private schools.
It is an annual program that provides teachers with a solid overview of NMI history.
Each participant will be given a certificate of completion.
Newly arrived teachers are encouraged to participate in the program.
According to the council, teachers in NMI are required to take NMI history courses.
Eleven speakers will conduct lectures during this year’s institute.
