“We are still trying to get funds for them,” EMO added.
The office welcomes donations that will be provided to the family of six that fled to Saipan last week after Typhoon Choi-Wan battered the Northern Islands.
The local Red Cross is providing the evacuees medicines, food and shelter.
“The family is doing fine,” Red Cross emergency services director Juan Tenorio said.
In his letter to the Rotary Club members, Wayne Gilespi of the Salvation Army asked them “to please consider donating to this emergency.”
He added that cash will be the best donation.
All donations will go to the typhoon victims.
Taotao Tano leader and senatorial candidate Gregorio Cruz said he will be visiting the family and is hoping that the government will assist the typhoon victims.
According to Cruz, the people of the Northern Islands should be given safe and secure homes, a consistent radio communication system and emergency transportation.
He said what happened during the typhoon should be a “wake- up” call for the government to pay attention to the people of the Northern Islands, where some 20 individuals reside.
