CUKI Alvarez made his mark in the opening race of the Marianas Racing Association 2021 Points Race Season as he sped through both heats to top the expert class Sunday at Cow Town Raceway Park.

After an even start, Alvarez was able to shift gears to slip in front of the competition and maintain control throughout the first heat. He crossed the finish line in first place, gaining 25 points.
Angelito Hernaez and Franklin Santos had Alvarez looking over his shoulder, but they could not close the distance.
Hernaez finish second to garner 22 points while Santos was third with 20 points.
Alvarez’s heat 1 victory only fueled his momentum as he remained in control in heat 2, cutting turns and skimming through bumps for a photo-finish that earned him another 25 points and overall first place with a total of 50 points.
Hernaez finished second in heat 2 to secure overall second place with 44 points with Santos right behind in overall third with 40 points.
Patrick Togawa was fourth with 36 points; Alvarick Alvarez, fifth, 32 points; Champi Villacanas, sixth, 30 points; Charles Cepeda, seventh, 14 points; and Chris Alepuyo, eighth, 14 points.
Novice
The novice class featured an exciting race led by Corry Pangelinan who dominated both heats for a 50-point, overall first place finish.
The battle for second and third places was more intense. Henry Camacho Jr. came in second in heat 1, but in heat 2, where the placement mattered the most, it was Kier Agda who finished second — and second overall with 42 points.
Arthur Jebehn was overall third with 38 points; Henry Camacho Jr., fourth, 35 points; Keone Macaranas, fifth, 34 points; Thomas Reyes, sixth, 31 points; Byron Castro, seventh, 29 points; Jesus Santos, eighth, 24 points; Vince Torres, ninth, 23 points; Tristan Sablan, 10th, 18 points; Ens Macaranas, 11th, 11 points; and Roman Camacho,12th, 11 points.
Veterans
Garnering a total of 45 points after securing victory in heat 2, Dave Celis topped the veterans class following a seesaw battle with Melvin Cepeda.
Cepeda, who also had 45 points, settled for second place while Cuki Alvarez ended in third with 44 points.
Filling the remaining top-five spots were Charles Cepeda in fourth with 34 points and Glen Pangelinan in fifth with a similar score.
Power Puff
In the all-girl Power Puff class, Billie Pangelinan’s first place finish in heat 1 gave her enough cushion to finish first overall with 47 points.
Nanako Celis took heat 2 but was two points behind and had to settle for second place overall.
Edinna Cepeda came in third with 42 points; Shaniah Alvarez was fourth, 36 points; and Shiara Pangelinan, fifth, 32 points.
