House panel issues subpoena to governor’s chief of staff, 3 police officers

THE House Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee has issued subpoenas to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ chief of staff, former Guam Sen. Wil Castro, and three police officers.

The committee ordered Castro to appear on Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m. in the House chamber and to answer questions about the following:

• Reimbursements for meals, hostings, and gifts claimed by or on behalf of Governor Torres and/or first lady Diann Torres, including but not limited to communications regarding the same subject matter.

• Travel meetings conducted or claimed by or on behalf of the governor and/or the first lady including but not limited to reimbursement requests.

Police Officer Flora Aguon was ordered to appear at 10:30 a.m., Nov. 18; PO Jhaneeka Atalig, 10:30 a.m., Nov. 19; and PO Joey Cruz at 10:30 a.m., Nov. 23 in the House chamber.

They are to testify on the governor’s travels, their duties and responsibilities, and records of expenses, reimbursements, boat manifest and logs and float plans in connection with the boat trips of the governor, the first lady and their relatives and friends including but not limited to expenses on fuel, food, beverages, water, materials, supplies, equipment and employees’ overtime pays.

They are also expected to answer questions about the governor’s off-island travels including but not limited to per diem, stipend, lodging, air fare and transportation.
