THE Fiesta Resort & Spa logo has been removed from its main building and will soon be replaced by the hotel’s new name, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan which will open next year.
Located in Garapan, the hotel was originally known as Dai-Ichi and was renamed Fiesta Resort & Spa in 2005 by its then new owner, Asia Pacific Hotels, an affiliate of Tan Holdings Corp.
in May 2020, Tan Holdings, in partnership with InterContinental Hotel Group, signed a new 40-year lease agreement with the Department of Public Lands for the 416-room hotel which will rebrand in 2022 as Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan.
“It’s quite an exciting time and an era of change,” said Crowne Plaza Hotel Saipan general manager Robert Coates who was at the site Wednesday to oversee the work being performed by local contractors.
“Today is the dismantling of the ‘Fiesta’ logo so we’ll become Crown Plaza Hotel in March next year,” he said. The Crowne Plaza logo will soon be displayed at the hotel, he added.
Matthew Murphy, superintendent of the contractor, Murphy Enterprises Inc. LLC, said they also took down the old logos at Fiesta Resort in Tumon, Guam.
Part of their scope of work is the repainting of the entire exterior of the former Fiesta hotels, he added.
“We’ll plaster it all nice and repaint with three tones of colors to make it real pretty, and then we install the Crowne Plaza Resort sign,” he said.
In removing the “Fiesta” logo, Murphy said “we wanted to do it right and to do it safely.”
