Bamboo Club, Just Chillin’ to vie for 8-ball pool title

BAMBOO Club 88 Black Ball and Just Chillin’ SCS will shoot it out for the Thursday Division championship of the  Saipan Billiards Association’s Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.

Bamboo Club and Just Chillin’ eliminated their respective opponents in the semi-final round on Nov. 11 to earn slots in the Budweiser Cup finals that will be held Thursday at Just Chillin’ in Garapan.

Bamboo Club swept Marpac Eagle’s Eye in the opening round of the partner’s match at Bamboo Bar on Thursday with Bamboo Bar team captain Randy David and Roman Rodriguez outscoring Chester Hamoy and Warlee Ellama of Eagle’s Eye.

Bamboo Club’s Rey Hermogenes and Jess Guiri then dispatched  Rolly Villanueva and Nilo Panes of Eagle’s Eye.

But in the second round of the singles match Hamoy and Villanueva of Eagle’s Eye defeated Bamboo Club’s Davic and Guiri  to tie the game, 6-6, in the race-to-nine match.

In the nextsingles match, Bamboo Club’s Hermogenes and Rodriguez bested Ellama and Panes, but Hamoy and Villanueva routed David and Guiri to tie the game once again.

In the decisive partner’s match, Rodriguez and Hermogenes took control  and outplayed Hamoy and Villanueva as Bamboo Club won the semi-final match 9-8.

Just Chillin’ vs. Wizards

At Just Chillin’, the home-team defended their turf with a 9-5 victory over the Last Shot DECM Wizards.

Thanks to their upset wins over Just Chillin’s Rowell Mariano and Ken Chen in the opening round of the singles match, Wizards Lito Pangelinan and Albert Pangelinan gave their team an early lead.

But the Wizards’ Aljay Malang and Ed Mariano lost to Just Chillin’s Daniel Miranda and Rowell Mariano in the second partner’s match.

And Just Chillin’ kept the momentum going in the second singles match and never gave the Wizards a chance to recover as Just Chilin’ cruised to victory, 9-5.
