Community invited to join end-of-year cleanups in CK, Susupe

Members of the community are invited to pitch in for village cleanups in Chalan Kanoa and Susupe this Saturday, December 11 and next Saturday, December 18, 2021.

The Office of Rep. Tina Sablan of Precinct 2 is teaming up with the Lions Centennial Club to host the December 11 village cleanup. Volunteers will meet at 7 a.m. at Sugar Dock Beach. Trash bags, gloves, face masks, sanitizers, water, and refreshments will be provided for volunteers.

The following Saturday, December 18, residents of Chalan Kanoa and Susupe are invited and encouraged to clean up around their homes and neighborhoods that morning and bring the collected trash to a central dumpster bin that will be stationed in the lot south of the Chalan Kanoa cemetery on Texas Road, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Only household trash and litter picked up from roadsides will be accepted on December 18. No waste will be accepted after 12 p.m., and no hazardous materials, junk appliances or cars, tires, green waste, or similar waste items will be accepted. Residents who require supplies such as trash bags or gloves, or who need assistance with trash pickup on December 18 may call Tokie Mojica from the office of Representative Sablan at (670) 285-5392.

Residents are also asked to report junk cars abandoned on public lands, or junk cars on their own residential properties that they need assistance removing by calling  664-8829 or (670) 285-5392. The office of Representative Sablan is working with the Saipan Mayor’s Office and the Zoning Office to coordinate removal.

All participants in these outdoor cleanup events are advised to wear face masks and practice social distancing. For more information, contact the office of Rep. Christina Sablan at  664-8829 or (670) 285-5392.
