GOODIES, the newest coffee shop on Beach Road, lives up to its name by offering special gifts and other novelty items while serving freshly brewed coffee, other mood-enhancing drinks and cookies.
Located next to Hardt Eye Clinic, Goodies overlooks the picturesque Saipan lagoon. It sells unique gift items that include accessories and clothes, interior decorations, furniture and eye-catching jewelry.
While there, you should also try Goodies’ aromatic Americano, luxurious Black Sesame Latte or delectable Matcha Oreo Latte with delicious cones and cookies.
Also available are Butter Latte, Tiramisu Latte, Iced Cocoa, Cappuccino, Caramel Macchiato and more.
Goodies is a one-of-a-kind establishment where you can sip and shop.
Owner Amanda Yu said combining a café and a specialty gift shop is an expression of herself. She knows how certain products can draw people in. “First of all, coffee for sure because I am a big coffee drinker,” she said.
Freshly brewed coffee always makes her day, and she knows there are a lot of people like her who work early and prefer to have a cuppa to start the day.
As for the items on Goodies’ shelves, “they make my day as well,” she said, “and people who see them always say, ‘Oh, they’re pretty.’ ”
These include elegant China ware, colorful flower vases as well as Van Gogh, Monet and Matisse paintings printed on tote bags.
“A couple of years ago when I was renovating my apartment, I started buying furniture, interior decorations,” Yu said. “And then I realized how many different designs were out there that you could share with others. It’s such an accomplishment when you buy different pieces from different locations and put them together and they turn out so great,” she added.
She came up with the idea for Goodies during the Covid-19 pandemic when the curfew and the temporary closure of the gym, among other establishments, forced everyone to stay at home.
“So I started drawing, painting,” Yu said. “I had a lot of arts supplies so I kept doing the paintings just to get the negative emotion out of my system. That’s how I started collecting different pieces.”
She also realized she had a passion for filling shelves with a lot of unique “goodies.”
