IN its 41 years of existence, Hyatt Regency Saipan has helped build a better life and a brighter future for its employees.
Hyatt’s longest-serving employees have their own success stories to tell.
One of them, Chef de Partie Renato Tabuena, who specializes in European cuisine and appetizers as well as Asian delicacies, has been with the hotel for 30 years now.
During those years, he said, “many good things happened to me.” These included raising a family and sending all his daughters to college. Three graduated cum laude. His youngest daughter, who graduated valedictorian from high school, is pursuing a degree in education at Northern Marianas College.
Tabuena, 61, said over the years, he had received job offers from other hotels. “I thought about those offers and then I asked myself, Where can I grow professionally while building a better life for my family? So I chose to work for Hyatt.”
Tabuena said he owes all his success and the successes of his children, to Hyatt and his hard work.
“I remain devoted to this company,” he added.
Raising a family
Like Tabuena, Hyatt’s Food and Beverage Outlet Manager Sally Delos Santos has been with the hotel for 30 years now.
Delos Santos, 52, started working for the hotel as a waitress when she was 23 years old.
“The hospitality industry is my passion. And it is here where I ‘found’ my family. My husband and I met here,” she said.
Through the years, she have met and known many guests, including local residents, several of whom became her friends.
“It is really my passion to serve people. Not everybody has that opportunity. At Hyatt, everyone cares for each other,” Delos Santos said.
With Hyatt, she added, she has also learned a lot of things, including how to deal with life’s ups and downs. There may be challenges, she said, but there is always someone who will help you overcome it.
The mission
Bartender Joselito Golingo, 55, has also been with Hyatt for 30 years now “because I firmly believe in its mission which is to provide its guests with the highest quality hotel service.”
Golingo said Hyatt’s stability benefited him and his family a lot.
“My eldest daughter has graduated from San Francisco State University where she earned a degree in computer engineering. She now works with Microsoft in Dallas, Texas,” he said.
Golingo said Hyatt appreciates its hard working employees. “If I need to work overtime, I accept it right away,” he said. “But I also enjoy my work because you get to talk to a lot of people.”
