Letter to the Editor: 1 CMC Section 7207 — the saga continues

Donna Cruz, Gloria Hunter, Ed Klingbergs and the executive director of the Commonwealth Retirees Association Juan M. Sablan, were faces that I recall.  There were probably some others.  Sorry if I missed you.  Anyway thanks to you all.

I continue to be amazed at the lack of concern on the part of retirees and contributing members of the Defined Benefit retirement program.  Is it that you really don’t need your bi-monthly retirement income?  For you contributing members, don’t you care that your contributions may not be available to you come retirement time?  Don’t you care that you may not have anything when you leave your cushy government job?  What is wrong with you?  Where were the other members of the CRA board of directors?  Where were Ron Barrineau, Agnes McPhetres, Juan I Tenorio, et. al.?

I know a good many retirees are now living off-island and I understand, but if you are a retiree living on Saipan, there is no excuse.

Again, I thank those retirees who attended and apologize for the failure to mention others that might have been at the hearing.  However, providing action for a seemingly uncaring group of individual retirees and members of the DBP is growing old.  I don’t like this “que sera, sera” attitude.  I am not happy with speaking out in court for a group of people that apparently just don’t care.

If you do care, let me know at [email protected].  If you like, I can e-mail you a copy of my court statements that were entered into the court record on your behalf.

The hours of statement preparation and the trepidation overcome in order to speak-out, in court, on behalf on an apparently uncaring group of individuals makes my motivation grow very thin, very fast.
