Letter to the Editor: Contradicting statements by corrections commissioner

Now, someone needs to ask the newly appointed commissioner why she called the mother of Mr. Palacios, notifying her to pick up her son since he was being released on home furlough. According to the victim’s mother who received the call, she was notified by the commissioner that her son was ready to sign the waiver dropping the complaint. She then hang up the phone.

Mr. Palacios was sentenced to 30 days in jail on a misdemeanor charge, but he was placed with criminals who had serious felony charges. That is why he was requesting a transfer.

Who authorized the commissioner to release Mr. Palacios without a court order justifying release?

Did the commissioner intentionally cover up the incident by offering Mr. Palacios with a home furlough?

Mr. Arnold Seman is the son-in law of Gov. Benigno Fitial.
