When local people acknowledge the contributions and importance of guest workers in CNMI, some call them – anti-local.
When guest workers appreciate the good things done by any of the department in CNMI government, some call them– makapili (traitor).
When local people find good things in any agencies of their government and appreciate them, some call them – puppets.
I have said “thank you” several times to Rep. Tina Sablan, Atty. Woodruff, Ms. Wendy Doromal, Mr. Ed Propts, Mr. Ron Hodges, Mr. Ken O’Harnnet, Mr. Greg Cruz & Jean Cruz, Ms. Deanne Siemer, Mr. Barry Hirsbien, Ms. Marian Pierce and others. Did it make me a lesser person? I do not think so.
The bottom line is, whether you are a local or guest worker, and you appreciate things or people for what they do – others have always some bad things to say about you.
But please, whatever they would say: let us not stop saying “thank you”.
To add: “When Filipino guest workers are cooperating with the Philippine Consulate activities, they are called “sipsip”.
And when Filipino guest workers criticize its own Consulate, they are called “antipatiko”.
Ay hirap talaga mabuhay….(mr.editor, please please please do not delete these line…thank you!)
