Letter to the Editor: Suffering and powerless

Many have lost their home/business appliances (air-conditioning units, refrigerators, etc.) or pay for unnecessary repairs because of power surges and disruptions. CUC is taking no responsibility for all this and the people affected don’t know where to go get help.

Another is the disruption of the cable TV and Internet services. When the power is out two to three times in one day for an average of four hours, it is the equivalent of 120 hours per month or five days without cable TV and Internet services.

Why is it that CUC is not taking responsibility for that either? Moreover, why is it that MCV continue to bill us for cable TV and Internet services not delivered? Shouldn’t they at least adjust their billing when the power is out? They have a point. But my point is that I didn’t receive cable service for the equivalent of five days regardless of who is at fault. Isn’t the suffering from high power rates more than enough?

I close by saying, Where is the help from our leaders, especially for many of us powerless members of our community? Shouldn’t MCV adjust my billing for service not rendered? Why is the Legislature or the executive branch not doing anything to help us poor folks? Do the people have to wait until another election year before somebody up there on the hill start speaking up?
