However, the library has much more to offer students than just that: they have cool programs and hosts great events such as Teen Read Week, Book Club, 2010 Reading Challenge and Stamping. They’re great opportunities to promote student involvement and it’s all free! Magazines, newspapers, manga, and novels are not even half of what the library provides.
My favorite book from the library is “How to Ruin” series by Simone Elkeles. Even if you are not an accustomed reader, I guarantee if you look hard enough or ask our librarians for help you will find something good. The library is the perfect place to go when you are trying to save money and use your time wisely.
My library also has available computers for all the students to use for homework, projects, printing, and keeping in touch with friends via email. It’s a further opportunity for students to take advantages of the resources in the library for good use.
Oct. 17 to 23 is Teen Read Week. I would like to encourage other teens who do not use the library that they should definitely check it out. There are people there who can assist you and help you get your questions answered.
Furthermore, parents should check the library! They have a lot to offer the whole family!
Our librarian and book club advisor, Sudi Napalan, says that the theme for Teen Read Week is “read for the fun of it.” Joining book club has thought me the importance of literacy. Additionally, I enjoy the book talks within our club.
I think reading can be good when you have time to spare, or you just want to relax. I enjoy the atmosphere of our library and fond of receiving a great variety of books any time.
So, do not forget to read a book for Teen Read Week and check out the library. You will see teens getting work done and having a good time.
