In this pursuit we look to others like “heroes” for answers and cures. However, in my experiences, I note that we will never achieve consistent resolutions of our social ills by expecting “heroes” to come to our rescue.
There are many examples in human history that have ended in tragedy and misery for all when a supposed “hero” pops up to cure the ills of the masses. For example, Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and some infamous religious leaders come to mind in more recent history.
I believe it would be best if we all look to ourselves to see how we each can be a “hero” to better ourselves rather than looking to others. What we seek is a rare event in the human social structure. We should be asking what we can do for our country and then actually doing our individual part no matter how small it may seem in the global stage.
