NINE cakes are vying for the top prize worth $75 in the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s Edible Book Contest.
The cakes were on display in the library last Thursday and featured decorations based on the manga One Piece, local book Hafa Un A’atan, Spider-Man, children’s picture books, and the young reader’s novel Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
According to a JKPL media release, the entries can “look like a book in form and shape, be inspired by a book or author, can be a pun of a book title, can refer to a book character, reproduce a book cover, or just have something to do with books in general.”
The winner will be selected based on a combination of onsite voting and virtual voting on JKPL’s social media pages.
The onsite voting has closed, but members of the public can still vote for their favorite cake on JKPL’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Virtual voting concludes on May 2 at 10 a.m.
