Hybrid streetlights at multi-purpose center

They are a hybrid 400-watt power from wind turbine and a 240-watt power from solar panel.

Rep. Froilan C. Tenorio, Covenant-Saipan, and his staffer former Rep. Manny Borja witnessed the installation of the streetlights at around noon.

The streetlights were brought here by a group of investors from China. They are among the 20 independent power producers who submitted proposals to  the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.  for the generation of renewable energy on island in compliance with the CUC privatization law.

The group of investors is a joint-venture composed of Justin Xu of  South Pacific-Australia Investment Company, the leading hybrid power manufacturer in China, and Andy Zhang of WSEC Lights Technology Company Limited.

Local businessman Juan “Bobo” Cabrera is their point of contact here.

According to the group, the streetlights’ solar panel works best during noon time.

At night, the wind turbine takes the job of storing power into the battery.
