(MVA) — Lucy Deleon Guerrero and family topped the Mini Christmas Village Contest awarded at the final night of Christmas in the Marianas at Garapan Fishing Base on Jan. 7, Saturday.
Deleon Guerrero walked away with a $2,000 cash prize. In 2nd place were Gina Nabetinan ($1,500) and in 3rd was Sharma Iginoef Laniyo ($1,000).
Winning for best decorated booth and receiving $500 was Kinpachi Restaurant. In 2nd place was Chagi Norf Kitchen ($300) and in 3rd place was Island Grindz ($200).
Christmas in the Marianas is an annual signature event of the Marianas Visitors Authority held during the Christmas and New Year holiday travel period. The event features live entertainment, food and drinks, a Christmas parade, illuminated sculptures, and more.
“On behalf of MVA and our co-organizers PDM Promoters and Pacific Development Inc., I would like to extend a warm si Yu’us ma’ase, olomwaay, and thank you to all our sponsors and supporters and the public helping us bring back Christmas in the Marianas this year, with great success,” said MVA Acting Managing Director Judy C. Torres. “Our warm community spirit is one of the qualities that makes the Marianas a great place to live and visit. As we continue to work to revive the tourism economy, we invite everyone to share this spirit with our returning visitors in the year ahead.”
