“The business community has come out in force again and really offered great incentives and prizes for this year’s event” said co-chair Roxanne Ferrer. “Our community loves to support the Red Cross, but people also love a chance to win great prizes and have lots of fun” said Ferrer.
The 24th annual walkathon is March 27 on all three islands. Prizes will be given out in various categories including schools, individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations. Items such as free hotel stays, dental cleaning, rounds of golf, restaurant certificates, jetski rides, water park passes, eye exams, children’s toys, sporting equipment and much more. This year’s premier sponsor is the Coke/Subway/Foremost/Glimpses/Scoops group of companies
If that wasn’t enough, there will be a large health fair with many social service agencies, as well as carnival games, face painting, bounce house, petting zoo, and cooking demonstrations. Subway sandwiches and refreshments will be provided

Puppies and kittens up for adoption
(PAWS) — Three beautiful black kittens are up for adoption to a good home. The kittens are healthy and weaned from their mother. If you are interested in adopting one or more of these kittens, please contact Rebecca at 483-3541.
Grey and black kitten
Paradise Island Animal Hospital is fostering a healthy and happy little male kitten, 7-8 weeks old, named Rodney. If you are interested in meeting Rodney, call PIAH at 234-9669.
Paradise Island Hospital is also fostering numerous beautiful and healthy puppies that are up for adoption. If you are interested in adopting or fostering any of the puppies listed below, please contact PAWS at 234-9669 or PIAH at 234-9669 or swing by and meet the pack.
White and orange puppies
PIAH has four white and orange puppies that are about 5-6 weeks of age that are ready for adoption. These little guys and gals are healthy and playful, and would make a perfect companion for older, more responsible children looking for a pet. These pups have been dewormed and treated for skin disease, including fleas and ticks.
Multi-colored family
PIAH is also fostering a perfectly tempered female dog, white and black with big ears, and her eight healthy puppies. The pups are black and tan, tan with black markings, and white with black markings. The pups have been dewormed and treated for fleas and ticks.
Please note that the mother dog is in need of a responsible foster family that will help her put on some weight and regain her health. The puppies have, as they will do, drained mom of all fat and nutrients. So, for the next few weeks, PAWS would like to place mom in a home that will keep her safe and feed her regularly. If you are interested in fostering the mother dog, please contact PIAH at 234-9669 or PAWS at 234-9669.

Red flag at 3 Saipan sites
(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality says water samples collected from Grotto Cave, Ladder Beach and Unai Dangkulo contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria that exceeded the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.
DEQ has given these locations a red flag and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified.
