San Antonio parish through the years

The San Antonio Parish uses a Power Point projection system and other modern gadgets for its regular church services and special events.

“We constantly upgrade and continue to move forward with our mission,” said the parish priest, Fr. Francisco “Jojo” Santos, who has been serving the church for almost four years now.

The original church was built in 1949 and was made of wood and other scrapped materials. It served as the  Naval Air Station chapel in Koblerville.

Later, the chapel was transferred to a Quonset house which was  eventually expanded.

In April 1968, a dedication ceremony was held for the church’s third and current location.

Santos said through the years, the church has consistently served the spiritual needs and concerns  of the parishioners.

The church itself has seen many improvements, which include the renovation of the altar, the installation of glass windows and doors, the construction of a convent for the parish priest and nuns, the installation of air-conditioning units, the landscaping and the construction of the social hall.

Herbert Del Rosario, the parish pastoral council president, said they also have regular programs for  children, youth and adults to help them grow spiritually.

“We want to train them while they are still young so they will grow up to be  responsible church members,” he said.
