Zero crime village

The DPS report only encouraged Frank Camacho, the block captain of the Neighborhood Watch Task Force in Dandan, to aggressively establish programs that promote peace, progress and development.

Since last year, with the community’s involvement, Camacho and other volunteers have implemented changes in the village, inspiring more participation from the youth, the senior citizens and even the children.

The DPS report is a “wake up call for everyone,” he said.

The creation of the Neighborhood Watch Task Force by the Saipan municipal council gave Camacho and his team a chance to initiate activities that will help secure the village.

They continue to reach out to schools, educating parents, teachers, students and community members about the importance of the village revitalization program.

Camacho also discussed his program with the Saipan Rotary Club, Mayor Donald G. Flores, and other groups.

Camacho sees the need to develop a community park to provide residents, particularly the youth, a venue for physical activities.

The cleanup campaign is one of their village revitalization programs, and is now a regular event every Saturday in Dandan.

Their group continues to maintain the children’s park, the basketball court and  Hafa Adai Avenue.

“I want Dandan to be a model village,” he said.

He encourages other community members to help promote progress, peace and development in the other villages.
