10 hospitalizations; 158 additional Covid-19 cases

(Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.) — As of Feb. 18, 2022, there were 10 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19:

Two unvaccinated and eight vaccinated.

One of  the 10 was on a ventilator.

158 additional individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 8,311 cases since March 26, 2020, CHCC reported on Friday evening. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

Of the 158 cases identified in the community:

153 were identified on Feb. 17, 2022, and 5 prior to Feb. 17, 2022

Five were identified on Tinian, and 2 on Rota.

11 were identified on Tinian.

Individuals who test positive for Covid-19 should stay home and isolate when they are sick (except to get medical care), even if they do not have symptoms. They should rest and stay hydrated. They can take over-the-counter medicines, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, to relieve symptoms, and live Covid-19 safe.

Individuals experiencing Covid-19 symptoms should stay home and live Covid-19 safe (except to get medical care or get tested for Covid-19). A total of 53 Covid-19 vaccine shots were administered on Feb. 18, 2022; of the eligible population, 55.3% have received an additional dose. The vaccination rate is calculated using the 2020 Census population estimates for the CNMI and includes the eligible 5-year-olds and older population.

The vaccination statuses of the 158 new cases identified are pending verification.

A total of 587 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Feb. 17, 2022:

260 via Community-Based Testing;

279 at Koblerville Covid-19 Community Center;

39 at Tinian Health Center; and

9 at the Rota Health Center.

Of the total cases identified, as of Feb. 17, 2022, there were 6,538 recoveries  and 1,748 active cases.

Of the cases, 7,694 were identified via community testing and 617 via travel testing.

Since March 2020, there have been 25 Covid-19-related deaths in the CNMI.
