Maria Gates and Natus Misech are the two gubernatorial wannabes trying to win the seat of first termer and incumbent Gov. Salii.
Meanwhile for Legislature, there are 12 candidates vying for five legislative seats. Among the candidates are Oliver Kasiano, Carlos Ramon, Jonathan Severio Joseph, Leon Gulibert, Joshua Lewis, Wilbur Telei Jr., Warren Fukuichi, Rodrick Blanco, Flavin T. Misech, Ignacio Santiago, Theofanes “Theo” Isamu and Benhart F. Thomas.
The deadline set by the Palau Election Commission (PEC) for candidates to file their nominating petition was on Oct. 5, while the deadline for the registration of new voters was Oct. 4.
PEC Administrative Specialist II Maria Decherong-Simer said there will be two polling boxes to be placed during the Election Day, one box in Angaur State and one box in Koror State.
Angaur State has 457 registered voters. This is the last State to conduct its general election based on the PEC calendar in 2010.
If Salii wins this would be his second term in office. The term of office for the elected officials in Angaur State is two years.
