The training started on February 10 and ended yesterday.
Minister of Justice John Gibbons handed the certificate of achievements to Moses Nestor, Allison Baiei, Jesse Rumong, Jim Kloulechad, Duane Tochi, Lolyna E. Ngiratrang, Haque Blesam, Lovelynson Wally and Jenkins Mariur.Nestor, Baiei, Rumong and Kloulechad are from Marine Law while Tochi and Blesam are from Customs.Wally, Ngiratrang and Mariur are from Immigration.The training is for the participants to conduct Maritime Law enforcement operations in accordance with the laws of Palau.The participants completed the course about use of force theory, boarding operators theory, communication techniques, defensive tactics and personnel handling techniques, 9 mm pistol handling and operation, tactical baton and boarding operations practical under the supervisory of Maritime Training Adviser Chief Petty Officer Boarding Steve Philpott of Royal Australian Navy.Director of Bureau of Marine Law Enforcement Ellender Ngirameketii and Maritime Surveillance Adviser Lt. Commander Kimbal Dunsmore of Royal Australian Navy were also at the ceremony yesterday.Minister Gibbons ask the 9 law enforcement officers to use wisely what they have learned from the training.“You are my eyes and arms in enforcing the law so enforce the law to protect our Palau borders,” he told the officers yesterday.
