Tmekei Ellis, Environmental Health specialist, said they started the inspection at around 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
He said they inspected every household’s surrounding including the comfort room to see if they are complying with the standard of clean and sanitation being implemented by the DEH.
Ellis said they gave rates to each household and 96 is the passing rate.
He added that of 50 houses a few of them were not conforming to the DEH standard. Some of the houses have no comfort rooms or sharing with one toilet, the rest have no sewerage system or septic tanks and others have untidy environments.
Ellis said that based on the DEH standard each household has one toilet.
However, he said that they already advised those households to abide with the DEH regulations.
Ellis noted that repeated violation has a corresponding penalty to be imposed by the DEH.
This is a yearly household routine inspection conducted by the DEH.
This year 12 States had already done by the office and four more States have yet to be inspected.
Ellis said that among the 16 states, Koror has the biggest household population.
Meanwhile, aside from the households other personnel of DEH also inspected stores in Airai.
Last week, the DEH condemned several drugs from the two stores in Koror. These drugs were being sold without doctor’s prescriptions.
