Gov. Kanai was the first one to take her oath administered by Land Court Judge Rosemarie Skebong followed by the 15 legislators, six are Hamlet representatives and nine of them are at-large.
The Hamlet legislators-elect are: Junior Teriong of Ordomel Hamlet; Williander Ngotel, Oikull Hamlet; Clinton “Clint” Freese, Ngchesechang; Florence Ngirmekur, Ngerusar; Meluat Telei, Ngeruluobel; and Clarence Kitalong, Ngetkib Hamlet.
For the Legislators at-large they are: Jack Masters, Henrietta Merei, Edna Raymond, Techur Rengulbai, Omtei Ringang, Mason Whipps, Leo Ben Teriong, David Orrukem, and Ron “Ronny” Ngirachereang.
After the installation of the newly legislators they immediately conducted a short session and elected their officers for the 6th ORN.
Legislator Whipps was elected as the Speaker and Orrukem as the Vice Speaker. While Raymond was elected as the Floor leader.
Meanwhile, Gov. Kanai in an interview said that she is glad for being elected again as a Governor. She said that she has a master plan that will be implemented during her new term.
She said that one of her major projects is a housing project.
“Because first we want to make sure that the people of Airai, the citizens will have a better residence. So the residential project, we are going to be completing those. Especially the historic sites, we have to maintain them.” Kanai said.
The swearing in ceremony was attended by President Johnson Toribiong, Senators, Governors from other States, Japan Ambassador Yoshiyuki Sadaoka among others.
The Airai State 6th General election was conducted last March 1, 2010.
