Baudong, at the age of 88, passed away on January 8. He was survived by his wife, Tngesik Risong Tanaka Saito, 12 children, 33 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
During his lifetime, Baudong was a farmer, fisherman, contractor and community leader in Ngchesar, a Paluan political leader who served five terms in the Palau Congress and Palau District Legislature.
He was also known for his oratory and political skills, as well as his ability to influence political events. At the time of his passing, Baudong bore the traditional title of Rekeriang of Imeong clan of Ngersuul and Madraidub of Ngerbis clan of Ngchesar.
He was a great loss not only to his family and friends, but to the to the people of Palau.
