
U.S. Congresswoman Aumua Amata of American Samoa met with Peace Corps Director Carol Spahn on Thursday. In Congress, Amata has supported the important efforts of the Peace Corps, including their much-needed work in the Pacific region, which they discussed in the meeting. Amata served as a Peace Corps staffer many years ago, and her daughter is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, who served in Bulgaria. Amata has worked for and cosponsored the reauthorization of the Peace Corps, including a boost in their budget for regional expansion.
