Aozora-Kai donates swim wear to Palau Swimming Association

The Japan Embassy said that the members of Aozora-Kai are classmates who graduated in 1955 from the Yokota Elementary School of Takaoka City of Toyama Prefecture, Japan.  Having reached retirement age and still healthy, the group got together to form an organization aspiring to making worthy contributions to the community.  

The group wants to make a difference in the community by helping out in education and sport activities, The group first visited Palau in March 2009 and donated school supplies to the elementary schools of Aimeliik, Peleliu and Angaur.The group learned during their visit in March in Palau and in their brief meeting with Kunio Nakamura, former Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Japan that the PSA   has a Japanese national for a coach.  The group then went back to Japan and proceeded to purchase swimwear to donate to PSA.The donation consists of 30 swimsuits, 30 swim caps, and 100 pieces of t-shirts, jackets, and pants.  The swimwear is by Goldwin, a famous sports-wear brand of Japan known for a wide range of quality sports products as well as sponsorship of many famous Japanese athletes.  Goldwin Inc. learned about the Ao Zora Kai donation and in turn donated other accessories to the group.  The hand over took place at the Embassy on Tuesday.Receiving the donations were Tina Shima, coach of the Palau Swim Team, Baklai Temengil of PNOC, and swimmers and members of the PSA.
