GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Monday issued a memorandum designating Northern Marianas College Dean of Academic Programs Clement R. Bermudes as acting Department of Public Safety commissioner.
The governor also issued a delegation of authority to special assistant to the governor Brien Sers Nicholas Jr., designating him as acting director of the Division of Procurement Services.
In his memo, the governor stated that Bermudes’ appointment as DPS commissioner requires Senate confirmation. Until the Senate takes action on his appointment, Bermudes “is hereby designated acting commissioner.”
The governor urged all department heads to extend their cooperation to Bermudes as he assumes his new duties and responsibilities.
A retired U.S. Army lt. colonel, Bermudes is also the former head of NMC’s criminal justice department.
