Adachi signed the bill on Friday Oct. 8, 2010 after it was passed by the members of Ninth Koror State Legislature (KSL) and transmitted to the office of the Governor on Sept. 29.
The monthly compensation to members of the KSL is $750 payable in equal installments on the 15th and 30th day of each month.
Pursuant to the new law, amending the KSPL No. K5-85-97, any member who is absent from three consecutive sessions or absent from any three out of five consecutive sessions without excuse as determined by the speaker, one- half of the monthly compensation of the member shall be forfeited. However if a member fails to attend all sessions in any calendar month without excuse, provided that there are at least three sessions held in such calendar month, then such member shall forfeit his/her monthly compensation and may be denied of payment of compensation during the following months to achieve such forfeiture.
Also stated in the law that each member of the Legislature shall be paid of $25 for each day while attending legislative session provided that the compensation may be paid to members who do not attend session but are excused from attendance in advance for such session by the Speaker.
This law is effective immediately after it was signed by Adachi last week.
