THE Evil Geniuzez or EVG completed a 4-0 sweep of the Marianas Reapers in the Marianas ESports League’s Mobile Legends Bang Bang Marianas Qualifiers on Sunday, March 17 at the Saipan Vegas Resort.

With their victory, EVG took home $1,000 and 50,000 in game currency “diamonds.”

EVG was the top competitor in the qualifier, which featured a total of six teams.

Their appearance in the finals of the qualifier guarantees that both EVG and the Marianas Reapers will see action in the Marianas ESports Professional League, scheduled for August of this year.

Gary Encarnacion, the league commissioner, said the mission of the Marianas ESports League is to develop the gaming talent of the competitors on Saipan and Guam

The next qualifier is scheduled for April 8 on Guam.

“Our main focus right now is to grow this community,” Encarnacion said. “E-sports are a big thing now in the world. We’re bringing the platform for Guam and Saipan. We want to give them that stage where all these gamers can go there and show the world their talents.”

Aside from the April Guam qualifier, a separate qualifier, the Summer Showdown 2024, is scheduled for June 24, and will pit eight teams — four from Guam and four from Saipan — against each other to determine which will join the pros in August.

Encarnacion said he wants local e-gamers to compete internationally.

‘We do really want to put someone from the Marianas — whether it’s Guam or Saipan — into the big leagues,” he added.

Despite losing to the Evil Geniuzez, the Marianas Reapers will have an opportunity to seek redemption in the upcoming Marianas ESports pro league.
