Rotaract 5K Fun Run set for Feb. 24, first 100 registrants to receive commemorative shirt

THE first 100 registrants in the Rotaract 5K Fun Run will receive a free commemorative t-shirt with their registration, Rotaract President Richard Baleares said.

Previously, the t-shirts were reserved for the first 100 finishers. Baleares said the change was made to attract more participants.

The race, which Rotaract is organizing with Run Saipan, is set for Saturday, Feb. 24, and the entrance fee is $10. To register, go to tinyurl.com/Rotaract-5k-Fun-Run/.

The race course starts at the Garapan Fishing Base and heads south, turning at the Quartermaster intersection, by the World War II Japanese tank.

The event is Rotaract’s major fundraiser, with all profits going to the projects scheduled in the organization’s calendar year.

Specifically, the funds will support the maintenance of the Kagman bus stop, which the Rotaract Club of Saipan has “adopted,” as well as professional development opportunities, creative endeavors, and community service activities.

According to the Rotary International website, the Rotaract Club is for people 18 years old and over.

Affiliated with the Rotary Club, the Rotaract Club brings together young professionals “to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.”
