AT the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Saipan, Rotaract Club of Saipan President Richard Baleares announced that registration is ongoing for the Rotaract Club of Saipan’s 5K Fun Run, which will be held “to commemorate 10 years of Rotaract on Saipan.”
The race, which Rotaract is organizing with Run Saipan, is set for Feb. 24, and the entrance fee is $10.

Onsite registration starts at 5:30 a.m. and the race will commence at 6:30 a.m.
Baleares said the race course begins at the Garapan Fishing Base and will head south, with a turnaround point at the World War II Japanese tank at the Quartermaster intersection.
Commemorative race shirts will be available for the first 100 finishers, and select prizes will go to the top three male and top three female finishers.
“The race is our major fundraiser to raise funds for whatever projects we have for the rest of the Rotary year,” Baleares said. “The plan is to also have funds remaining for the start of the next Rotary year for the next leadership and whatever projects they want to start.”
He said the funds will support the maintenance of the Kagman bus stop, which the Rotaract Club of Saipan has “adopted,” as well as professional development opportunities, creative endeavors, and community service activities for the club’s membership.
According to the Rotary International website, the Rotaract Club is for people 18 years old and over.
Affiliated with the Rotary Club, the Rotaract Club brings together young professionals “to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.”
