Roger Baca, Marcus Delong, Beau Fonte Sawaichi and Quincy Kunihiro also known as Ashley Kunihiro appeared on Wednesday with Chief Public Defender Jason Shaw and entered a not guilty plea to their respective charges.
Assistant Attorney General Tony DeRuiz appeared on behalf of the government.The four defendants were all charged on May 18 with one count each of grand larceny for stealing four rolls of copper wires at the Camp Katuu.The defendants were all released from custody after posting bail and were ordered to appear in court on July 8 for plea conference hearing.Baca, Sawaichi and Kunihiro posted $1,000 surety bond while Delong posted $500 cash.The affidavit submitted in court stated that Master Sgt. Chris Earnest called police on April 10 and reported a theft incident at the Camp Katuu.Earnest told police that 1,200 feet of copper wires were missing from the camp.The wires were last seen on March 31.The defendants were apprentices at the camp, the court document stated.The document stated that a witness saw Baca and Kunihiro stealing the wires from the camp.The defendants admitted committing the crimes during an interview with the investigators.
