(CUC) — At 10:28 a.m. Wednesday, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. experienced an islandwide power outage due to the auto trip of Diesel Engine Number 6 at Power Plant 1. This caused Feeder 4, Feeder 7, and Kiya 2 to trip. Due to protective measures on the engine, the remaining feeders were manually tripped resulting in an islandwide power outage.
CUC power plant technicians are preparing to restore circuits as soon as possible.
As a result of the power outage, water services to As Matuis, San Roque, Tanapag, Achugao, As Mahetog, Sadog Tasi, Chalan Galaide, Upper Navy Hill, Mt. Tapochao, Wireless, Talafofo, Capital Hill, I Denni, As Teo, Papago, Gualo Rai, As Terlaje, Lower Dandan, Fina Sisu and As Perdido as well as portions of Koblerville, Kannat Tabla and Chalan Kiya were affected.
Updates will follow as soon as they are available.
“CUC appreciates your understanding and patience as it continues to restore power services to the island.”
