The victims lost several items amounting to over a $1,000 when the burglars broke into their residence and establishments.
Patrol Division Chief Ismael Aguon said that the burglary incidents were all reported to the police on June 10.Aguon said that at 7:23 a.m. on June 10, an unknown caller called police and reported that someone broke into M & M store in Ngesaol and took several cigarettes amounting to $26.At 9:10 a.m. a woman called and reported that someone broke into a bar and restaurant in Malakal and stole laptop, four bottles of hard liquors and $200 cash from the cash register.The estimated value of stolen items is $1,201.55.At 4:03 p.m. an unknown caller also reported that someone broke into their residence in Airai and took one digital camera, can goods and DVD disk.A theft incident was also reported to the police on June 9 at 10:11 am.A man called and reported that someone went to their barracks in Meyuns and stole his wallet containing $280.Police responded and an investigation was conducted.Police was able to identify the suspect but the case is still pending for further investigation.On June 4 at 4:10 p.m. a man also reported that someone used a bouncing check to purchase items at the New Juice City store in Topside.The suspect purchased several beers, sodas, cigarettes and other items amounting all to $71.95.The report indicated that the check was stolen from a woman. The case is still under investigation.
