Four legislators maintain seat in Ngiwal midterm election

According to Palau Election Commission (PEC) unofficial results, Ellender Ngirameketti got 251 votes while Azaria “Asa” Timarong has 207 votes, Russel Masayos, 203 votes; and Hideki Takataro, 202 votes.

The midterm election has 13 candidates but only seven will occupy the legislative seats. The other three newly elected candidates are Cisco Melaitau who bagged 227 votes; Francis “Titich” Termeteet with 203 votes and Margie Bechab with 178 votes.

The State has 715 registered voters but only 399 have cast their votes at the polling box in Ladk building in Ngiwal State.

Lulu Ermaluuk, Election officer, said the election results will be certified on August 24, 14 days after the election.

The certification will be done seven days after the absentee voting ballots are received which is set on August 17.

Ermaluuk added that the election was held peacefully. There were no reports of any complaints or petition received by the PEC.

After Ngiwal State, the PEC is also preparing for the upcoming General election in Ngarchelong State.

The Ngarchelong election will be held on August 31.
